October's Theme is Bobbing for Apples
Fall has arrived at EmBark Academy, and we’re celebrating the season with a fun and refreshing twist on a classic autumn activity: Bobbing for Apples! This month, our daycare dogs will be putting their noses, paws and problem-solving skills to work as they discover apples floating in the water and figure out how to retrieve them.
This playful activity offers more than just a tasty reward! Bobbing for apples is a wonderful combination of sensory enrichment, confidence building, problem-solving and water play. The dogs get to use their natural instincts to sniff, investigate and forage for something both yummy and healthy. For dogs who are a little unsure about the water, this will give them a chance to build confidence at their own pace with gentle encouragement making positive experiences.
Whether they’re enthusiastically diving nose-first into the fun or carefully figuring out how to snag an apple, every dog gets to enjoy the activity in their own way while having a blast!
Play and Train
Give your dog the opportunity to learn while they play with our Play & Train program! This exciting add-on service was designed exclusively for dogs attending daycare! Whether you have a puppy just starting their training journey or an adult dog that could use a refresher on basic obedience, Play & Train provides focused, one-on-one learning in a fun and familiar environment. During each daycare visit, your dog receives two private 10-minute training sessions, where they work individually with a trainer away from the daycare group. We also provide video updates so you can see your dog’s progress firsthand and continue reinforcing their new skills at home. Our program offers four training tiers, along with an optional Tricks tier, allowing you to choose as much or as little training as you’d like. Owners can also request specific commands, behaviors, or training goals they would like their dog to work on. Several dogs have already benefited from the program, gaining confidence, improving obedience, and strengthening communication with their families. Our goal is to help both dogs and owners succeed through consistent, positive training. Best of all, signing up is easy, simply add Play & Train when booking your dog’s daycare visit. September Enrichment
September’s Back to School enrichment brought a little classroom fun to daycare as we challenged the dogs to pick up their toys and put them away in a toybox! This shaping activity was no easy assignment! Some dogs mastered the trick, others were still figuring it out, and a few decided it simply wasn’t their cup of tea. Either way, everyone had fun, enjoyed plenty of treats and did their best! This activity encouraged problem-solving, focus, confidence and learning through trial and error. It also tapped into natural instincts like carrying, retrieving and exploring. After all, learning should always be fun!

We always welcome some new faces in daycare! Please say hello to our newest friends.
We make sure to make each dog feels understood and we take their individual needs into account. Shy dogs get additional one-on-one snuggle time with staff, while high energy pups get some extra structured play.
